This twenty minute talk was written directly to all game developers who want to learn what it is like to be low income and working class, and attempting to break into the games industry.
When writing this talk, my aim was to educate and inform devs from all walks of life, on how the current model of relying on parents to introduce games to their children is broken and classist. Additionally, it is a call to action that we need to do a better job at making games accessible for the next generation.
My two primary takeaways are: the insight into what the struggle is like when low income and working class people try to enter our luxury industry, and the analysis of two different methods I believe will solve our issue moving forward.
